It was time to put the relationship to the van adventure test. We had already survived a quick overnight camper adventure, but could we squeeze into a much smaller space with no bathroom and still like each other?

Now that Dakota was back to normal, we were ready for a planned adventure, as opposed to the emergency vet visit kind of adventure.
I followed my boyfriend’s truck down dusty back roads, as I was now getting very used to doing, until we got to a spectacular spot surrounded by red rock mountains and orange sand dunes. We were ready to attempt a desert backpacking trip.
Things are Heating up
After a second date that caught me by surprise, I was on my way to Gunnison.
“How about you meet me at my house. You can take a shower there. Then let me take you out to dinner and we can camp up at Hartman Rocks,” he said. It sounded like a perfect evening, so I couldn’t say no.
You Just Need to be Alone
I had just spent the last two days hiking Mt. Elbert, the tallest peak in Colorado, and my body could feel it. 15 miles and over 5,00ft of elevation gain. We were exhausted!

Onward and Upward
I was ready to leave Taos. I didn’t know where I would go next, but I knew I couldn’t stay.
