After creating my last resource guide to working remotely from a van, I figured it was time to share some more of the things I’ve learned while living on the road the last two years.
One topic I would consider myself a bit of an expert on is vanlifing with a dog.
Before we jump into the tips, I figured I should introduce the queen pup herself, Dakota. She’s an 8-year-old Ridgeback mix (probably?) and we’ve been together since she was 8 weeks old. She’s very tall and weighs in at 80 pounds, so she’s certainly not some cute van accessory. She essentially takes the same space as another human. She’s athletic, adventurous, and the best vanlife companion ever created.
March was a strange time for everyone. It seemed as though every hour the news was changing. People were panicking, others were in denial. There was no toilet paper.
One of the biggest hang-ups for people as they start dreaming about living a life on the road is how they’ll make money.
Maybe the only positive thing that came from Covid is that so many more remote opportunities became available to people. Still, the idea of how to find a reliable cell signal or how to manage the logistics of traveling while working can seem daunting.
For the last two years, I’ve worked my job from my van while traveling all over the US. I constantly get messages about how I make this work, so I’ve compiled answers to your most-asked questions below!
Two whole years on the road.
That feels like a pretty wild accomplishment.
Dakota and I sure have seen and done a lot in the past two years. Our journey has taken a lot of twists and turns.
We’ve learned hard lessons and also had plenty of beautiful, relaxing days in front of sprawling landscapes.
If you’ve been following us for a while, you know it hasn’t been an easy journey. I feel like year 2 wrapped up in such a beautiful way, where we’ve really found our groove and I’m incredibly happy. It keeps me so hopeful for what this next year will bring.
